国分寺讃岐太鼓発表会 – Kokubunji Sanuki Taiko Performance

Recently I had the chance to go see the most renown taiko group in the prefecture perform.  This group certainly takes things a bit more seriously than mine, and has membership fees to match.  Anyway, my group all decided to go and watch the annual event, which was really pretty cool.  It was held at Takamatsu Sunport Hall, which is a really nice new building that went up in the center of town.  There were a number of my foreigner friends there, but I ended up sitting with my group.  I really don’t have too much I can say about people hitting drums.  It did make me want to be better and have a few more songs under my belt though.  One of the song intros included audience participation, in an effort to make what sounded like rain when we were all put together.  It sounded pretty cool, but I was blowing everyone around me away on the finger snaps, and they were impressed.

Here is a shot of the stage.

And also a video clip of the performance.  Its was cool to watch, but the darkness in the house had me on the brink of sleep.
